Honors Curriculum: The English 10 Honors I K course incorporates a more advanced study of the process of writing along with the application of new literary elements and terms to the works from the Pennsylvania State Standards connected anthology.  The sophomore syllabus includes works from the genres of Short Story and Poetry.  A choice novel is addressed for all academic levels, as are at least two independent reads for the Honors group.  The sophomore level also addresses Markus Zuzak's The Book Thief during the academic year.  The students are responsible for a more advanced APA formatted research requirement, including a short paper with correct source choices, in-text citations, and a correctly formatted Reference page.  

Academic Curriculum:
The English 10 Academic K course incorporates a more advanced study of the process of writing along with the application of new literary elements and terms to the works from the Pennsylvania State Standards connected anthology.  The sophomore syllabus includes contemporary works, short stories, along with a variety of fiction and nonfiction.  A choice novel is addressed for all academic levels, as are at least two independent read novels throughout the course of the year.  The sophomore level also addresses Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird during the academic year.  The students are responsible for an APA formatted research requirement, including a short paper with correct source choices, in-text citations, and a correctly formatted Reference Page.

The English 10 Standard K course incorporates a more advanced study of the process of writing along with the application of new literary elements and terms to the works from the Pennsylvania State Standards connected anthology.  The sophomore syllabus includes contemporary works, short stories along with a variety of fiction and nonfiction.  A choice novel is addressed for all academic levels, as are different genres of literature throughout the course of the year.  The sophomore level also addresses contemporary novels during the academic year.  The students also research the job market and create a resume and cover letter.
